Should The Curly Stems Of Garlic Be Cut To Increase Bulb Size

Question From: d. teichman - Ferndale, Michigan, United States
Q: Garlic. Those long pointy curly stems that come up midway in their growth, should I cut them off as I have been told they impede the bulbs from fully developing. Thanks

A: Those curly stems are flowers and should be removed to allow more energy to go to the bulb, increasing its size. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
