Should Yews Be Topped In July

Question From: C. Hollingsworth - TENNESSEE
Q: Dear Nancy, I planted yews in Destin, FL at our summer home 5 years ago. I've never cut them, and I’m not here always so I’m compelled to top them about 8’ this visit, but it’s July. I talked to the yews, and believe there is an intention they want to be topped. Should I wait until Spring, or will I be pleased with more power growth, any is better if I proceed? I’m here until July 7 if you can respond, I will sing your praises into my earth until it blooms no more!

Due to excessive heat I would wait until spring. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy,
