Single Fertilizer For Roses And Hydrangeas

Question From: Northville, Michigan, United States
Q: I have 4 knockout roses, 3 bush roses, and 7 hydrangea in a bed surrounding my patio. Is there a common fertilizer I can use for all plants, or should I tailor the fertilizer to the plant. Have a soaker hose installed for watering the entire bed. One more question. I recently trimmed back one of the hydrangea to about 4 inches. My wife did not appreciate the effort ..... claims the plant will not produce this summer. Your opinion please.

A: Hollytone by Espoma will work well on all the plants. The roses are heavy feeders so give them a handfull once a month thru the middle of August. Need to know what variety of Hydrangeas you have. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
