Small Mountain Ash Leaves Are Folded In Middle

Question From: A. Wassmuth - Greencreek, Idaho, United States
Q: I looked at your mountain ash questions and didn't see this addressed: My mountain ash seems quite healthy, but the leaflets are folded in the middle. There are no bugs, the leaves just don't lay completely flat. It's like they just didn't open all the way. Do you think it's missing a nutrient or something? Or does that just happen sometimes?

Aphids will cause cause the leaves to curl. If you Google curling of ash tree leaves you will find photos. Take a samples to your independent garden center or nursery for an accurate Id and suggestions for control.  Best and Happy Yardening, Nancy.
