Question From: Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States
Q: I have a small blue spruce ( 3’ tall) that I would like to transplant & I was wondering when would be the best time of year to transplant it . I live in Ann Arbor Michigan. Would it be best to wait till next spring?
A: I would transplant the tree when the soil temperatures in the planting site hover between 60 and 70 degrees. I recommend you use mychorrhiza when transplanting. I use Assure Transplant Success (http://www.assurefertilizer.com/products_retail_fertilizers.html) . Keeping your transplant watered will be key to success. Mulching the a good organic mulch will protect the roots over the winter. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
