To What Height Should Grass Be Mowed In Fall

Question From: F. Barr - Grantham, Pennsylvania, United States
Q: I was told recently that we should mow at 4" in the fall, normally we mow at 3.5" thru the spring & summer. I always thought it should be shorter in the fall to prevent winter damage from matting & snow. What do you recommend

The grass guru Jeff Ball recommended 3 inches. Scalping the lawn short leaves it vulnerable to disease and unable to feed itself in early spring, Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
