Question From: Bowling Green, Kentucky, United States
Q: My pyrocantha shrub has brown leaves on several of the top limbs. It looks like the limbs have died. I have pruned as many as I can, but it seems there are still more. What could be causing this, as I do not want the whole bush to die. It seems to be fine closer to the ground. I have got it climbing on a trellis.

A: Your plant may be suffering from winter dieback. Take cuttings from branches that are dead on tips but are live at the base and inspect closely for problems - disease, insect damage etc. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
