Top Two Thirds Of Young Cypress Turned Reddish Brown And Bottom Is Green And Healthy

Question From: S. Brothers - Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, United States
Q: I live in Northern Ontario Canada and we have had a very long extremely cold winter. The top 2 thirds of my 2 year old false Cyprus tree turned reddish brown with very little sign of life but the bottom is green and healthy. Should I leave it and see what happens or maybe cut the top off but it is most of the tree. My other cedars show some sign of this too as well as many trees in town. Please advise.... THANKS!

I suggest you give it another couple of weeks. Be sure to keep it well watered. Everything is late this season. Another couple of weeks won't hurt and hopefully you will be surprised.
