Tree Bleeds Black Stuff When Broken

Question From: L. LOWERY - KENTUCKY
Q: what kind of tree if broke runs black stuff from it

My guess is the tree bas a bacterial infection. Many trees get these infections. Take pictures of the sap and the leaves to an independent garden center for an accurate ID. If you wish to save the tree get and on-site inspection from a professional, a certified arborist. To find one n your area go to www.tcia.org. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
