Tulip Leaves Become Brittle With Long Reddish Streaks In Middle After Blooming

Question From: L. Kilpatrick - Denver, Colorado, United States
Q: Hello, my problem is with my tulips. After they blossomed the leaves began being brittle with long reddish marks running along the middle of the leaves. Is this a disease or weather problem or watering problem? The bed has been producing beautiful blooms for three years. Thanks for your help.

A: Sounds like a virus, but I am not an expert on tulip diseases. I suggest you send your question to the folks at Brent and Becky's bulbs -[email protected]. If you can get a photo or two it would be helpful. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
