Tulip Tree Bark Turned Dark And Has Small White Dots And Leaves Are Turning Brown And Falling

Question From: TEXAS
Q: Hi Nancy, My tulip tree bark has turned dark and it has small white dots. The leaves are brown and falling off. It’s October so is this when they normally loose leaves? There is no yellowing at all on the leaves and no lines underneath the leaves, they just look sick. I happen you can give some direction. Thanks! Jeff and Lisa in Texas

A: Jeff and Lisa, I am not a trained arborist and I live in Michigan so I cannot diagnose your problem. However I would take photos of the bark and leaves to document the problem. Also bag up some leaves and take them to an independent garden center or nursery that sells these trees. If it is a large tree I would get an on-site inspection from a certified arborist. To find one in your area go to tcia.org and enter your zip code. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
