Question From: Rochester, Michigan, United States
Q: Hi Nancy: I have a tulip tree in my yard in a perfect spot where the soil is moist and the tree has done extremely well over the past 6 years...has grown quite tall and although never bloomed the leaves are still beautiful and green. Last year we had a bit of drought in Michigan and although the tree looked great all summer (root fed occasionally), in early September, the leaves turned brown and it went through a very early "fall". I am very worried that the tree is dead....did it just go dormant as a self-preservation thing? Anything you can provide would be greatly appreciated regarding what, if anything, I can do at this point....
A: I am not a tree doctor. If it were my tree I would get an onsite inspection from a certified arborist. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
