Question From: m. savarese - NORTH CAROLINA
Q: I live in Calabash, NC I planted tulips this fall. we had a pretty cold winter this year but my tulips are still stinted. is the only reason they are stinted is that it wasn't cold enough?
A:
There could me several reasons why your tulips may not have thrived. Quality of bulbs may be an issue. Also, some varieties do better than others in warmer climates. Also tulips need about 14 weeks of cooling to bloom.Lack of moisture may also be an issue. Talk to the folks at your local independent garden center or nursery for recommendations.
