Variegated Weigela Blooms Have Changed Color From Pink To Mostly White Over Years

Question From: G. Warren - MICHIGAN
Q: My eight year old Variegated Weigela used to bloom a deep pink color. Now most of the blooms are white. The bush grows vigorously with no foliage problems whatsoever. Can you tell my the reason for this change and any solutions to return it to its original color.

A: Your weigela was probably hybridized and the specie took over the hybrid. There is no way to reverse the process. Best and Happy Yardening, Nancy.
