Weeping Bald Cypress Only Has New Leaves On Bottom Portion Of Tree

Question From: Southport, North Carolina, United States
Q: My weeping bald cypress only has developed leaves on the bottom portion of the tree this spring. It stands about 6 ft. tall and only has new leaves on bottom 2 feet of tree. Can I do anything to get the rest filled out with leaves? Thanks for your help.

A: Anne, I don't know of anything that will make the tree generate new leaves. But give it a bit of time. I also suggest you take a couple of pictures to your local independent garden center or nursery that sells these trees. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
