What And When To Fertilize Spirea That Are Not Looking Healthy

Question From: L. Hay - Nicholasville, Kentucky, United States
Q: I planted 6 small spireas in Spring 2016 and they just aren't very healthy looking this spring. They are starting to green up, but was wondering if I should fertilize now and with what?!? I live in Kentucky.

Now is a good time to fertilize them. I would us Espoma Plant Tone at the rate recommended on the bag. Do not over do it. Do be sure to keep the shrubs well watered and mulch them with 4 inches of organic mulch. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
