What Causes The Bottom Leaves Of Vanda Orchids To Fall Off

Question From: Ocean City, Washington, United States
Q: What makes the bottom Strap Leaves on Vanda Orchids to falloff resulting eventually in an orchid with a very long stalk. However I can propagate this type of orchid by cutting it in Two During August or September to produce Two Orchids. I do not understand why the bottom leaves fall off, as I have seen other growers Vanda's with leaves from top to bottom ?

I don't grow orchids, so I cannot answer your questions. I recommend you visit an independent garden center or nursery in your area that sells Vandas and other orchids. Also check out the website of the American Orchid Society, they may have a group in your area. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
