What Is Hardware Cloth And Will It Protect Planted Bulbs From Squirrels

Question From: MICHIGAN
Q: I just read that a means to deter squirrels etc from digging up planted tulips bulbs: use hardware cloth. What is hardware cloth and does it really work, or do you have another suggestion. I would appreciate your feedback on this because in a few weeks I will begin planting my bulbs. Thanks.

Hardware cloth is metal screening that is much heavier than a window screen with larger openings. Its available by the yard or roll at home depot, lowes and hardware stores. You can lay it over the planting area and squirrels cannot chew through it. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
