When To Plant Beets In Georgia

Question From: GEORGIA
Q: IS IT TO LATE TO PLANTS BEETS IN COSTAL GEORGIA OR WAIT TO EARLY SPRING

According to my research beets do best when planted in February in Georgia. I suggest you contact your county extension for more direction. Gardening in the South is much different than gardening here in my home state of Michigan. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.

Comment: thank you so much. i planted a crop of beets once in feb. and they made a bumper crop. that is when i was taught to not only to cook the roots but also cook the tops, (greens). we in the south love our greens, turnips, collards and other greens. sometime i had a problem with getting them to germinate. but i always plant vegetables and other plants according to the phase of the moon. i go by and use the almanac. thanks again, mike
