Question From: Raeford, North Carolina, United States
Q: How close to or how far out from the base of the Squash plant does a Borer lay eggs. How far up from the base do they lay eggs. I have read that when using aluminum sleeves the Borer will just lay eggs where the sleeves stop.
Generally speaking borers lay eggs at the base of leaf stems or on the undersides of leaves. Check this line to the University of Kentucky for a colored photo. They are pretty easy to spot. https://entomology.ca.uky.edu/ef314 Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
