Where To Find Crepe Myrtle That Are Zone 5 Hardy

Question From: H. wood - Farmington, Michigan, United States
Q: lagerstroemia indica coral filli - crepe myrtle. We would like to find out where you can purchase this or other cold hardy crepe myrtle in Michigan. None of our regular nurseries carry anything, but we have discovered that there are now many kinds that can handle our zone 5 weather.

Checked with Spring Meadow Nursery in Grand Haven, MI. All their crepe myrtles are listed as hardy to zone 6/7. If this plant were truly hardy to zone 5 every independent garden center in Southeastern Michigan would be carrying it. Here's a website that explains what you have to do to overwinter it successfully.https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/gardening-by-zone/zone-5/z
I'd call it a crapshoot at best. You'll have to mail order it. I'd try White Flower Farm. Good Luck, Nancy
