Which Worx Trivac Should I Buy

Question From: West Bloomfield Township, Michigan, United States
Q: dear nancy: read your article on the worx trivac. thinking of buying 2 or 3 for x-mas gifts to family. the top of the line model wg 509 is $139.95. the wg505 model is $99.95 and is rated by consumers digest as a best buy. what is the difference between the two models and which one would you recommend for one to buy?

David, The cheaper model - the original and the one I have has a plastic impeller. The reduction rate of leaves is 1 to 10. The big gun has a metal impeller and the reduction rate is 1 to 16. The metal impeller will undoubtedly last long and is less likely to be damaged by a stone or other that gets sucked up. That said, I have had mine for 5 years and have only had to crack it open - which is easy to do, for jamming once. In the average city lot with not a lot of pine cones or other chunky debris, the $99 would be fine. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
