White Andromeda Flowers Are Turning Brown

Question From: NEW YORK
Q: The white flowers on my andromeda are turning brown. What do I need to add to the soil to bring the shrub back to health?

A: I think the damage to your flowers may be the result of late season frost and cold. Andromedas like organic rich soil so mulching around the plant with an inch or so of compost will be beneficial. Fertilizing is best done in late winter, but a good organic fertilizer for acid loving plants, such as Holly-Tone can be used now. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
