White Dots On Burning Bush And Pine Tree

Question From: DELAWARE
Q: I have a two year old burning bush and a11 yr old pine tree (hemlock) both have white dots on the branches. Looks and feels like styrofoam. Can you tell me what this is and what to do about it?

A:

Sounds like wooly adelgids. I recommend you have an on-site inspection by a tree doctor, a certified arborist in your area. Adelgids will kill your hemlock of not treated. Happy Yardening, Nancy
