Question From: R. Ford - Sugar Grove, Ohio, United States
Q: I have about 50 white pine trees in Southern OH. All of my white pines are having needle drop NOW in the middle of august. None of the other white pines within a few miles of my place are dropping needle. Trees look healthy other than dropping needles now instead of mid to late September and October?? Should I be worried? None of the new growth needles are brown and the needles dropping are not married in any way. I have used Optrol on all the trees last 2 falls to control White Pine weevils. Thank you
A: I am not a certified arborist, so I recommend folks get an onsite inspection rather than guess. Early needle drop is always a concern. To find a professional in your area go to www.tcia.org and enter your zip code. Best Nancy
