White Slimy Sacks On Rosemary Bush

Question From: L. Coleman - ARIZONA
Q: I was trimming my rosemary bush...after trimming the growth sprigs I noticed (just inside top edge of the bush) were these small sized white slimy sacks hanging from the 'T' of the inner stems, texture was that of a well melted marshmallow. Any ideas? I cut out what I could see. Thanks!

While I can't say for sure, it sounds like some sort of insect -could be egg sacks. I'd spray it with down with a stiff spray of cool water. I wrap the pot of my large rosemary topiary in a plastic bag, put it in the shower and hose it down with the hand held spray. Keep a close eye on the plant and if they return, hose the plant and when dry spray with insecticidal soap. Repeat every 7 days till the plant remains clean. Best Nancy
