Why Are Hydrangeas Only Blooming On Bottom Of Shrub

Question From: T. Davis - WISCONSIN
Q: why are my hydrangeas only blooming at the bottom of the shrub, almost at ground level?

A: If your hydrangeas are mop heads, then flower buds that form in late summer and fall were probably damaged by the polar vortex. Those on the lower branches were spared. Best Nancy ad Happy Yardening.
