Why Do Chinese Kousa Dogwood Tree Leaves Fold In Half

Question From: Hamburg, Pennsylvania, United States
Q: Why do the leaves on my Chinese Kousa dogwood tree fold in half? They fold down the center of the leaf.

The leaves of young trees planted in sun curl in hot dry weather because they cannot move moisture fast enough. It should grow out of this habit in a few years. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
