Why Does Yardener Say Serviceberry Is Not Salt Tolerant

Question From: MAINE
Q: you have listed Serviceberry as sensitive to salt spray, every other source I have seen says it is one of the toughest in those terms, what gives on that?

Depends on the location. Salt spray from a busy road in todays world - fast moving traffic, large trucks and subs are devastating natives that are considered salt tolerant. Most of the lists were developed decades ago when salt use was light.. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
