Why Have Finches Stopped Coming To Our Feeder

Question From: F. Netten - Pella, Iowa, United States
Q: The finches have stopped coming to our feeder why? We changed the seeds to make sure it's not moldy as we have had a lot rain. It's last of August are they heading to warmer climate? We are in Iowa near DesMoines.

The finches may have have decided to change their menu. Now is the time lots of plants go to seed, such as milkweed and thistle. A predator, such as a cat may have moved into the area and they have moved on. There are lots of reasons birds move around. Google "why finches stop feeding at my feeder for more information". https://www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/American_Goldfinch/lifehistory Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
