Why Is More Grass Magic Organic Fertilizer Required Than Water Soluble Non-Organic Fertilizers

Question From: Saint Clair Shores, Michigan, United States
Q: I am about to use Grass Magic Fertilizer in my rotary spreader. The Grass Magic bag says to set the dial at 6.75 for a Scotts Rotary Spreader. This seems like so much content to spread. The Scotts fertilizer bags say to set the dial on a rotary spreader at 3-1/2. Why such a variation?

Organic fertilizers contain less nitrogen per pound than water soluable products such as Scotts. However, they last much longer and do not wash away with rain. Grass Magic will last 8 to 10 weeks. Follow the directions on the package for the best performance. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
