Will Bottom Leaves Of Red Flower Geraniums Return After Being Removed

Question From: Manassas, Virginia, United States
Q: I have 6 very bushy red flowering geraniums. Had to leave for two weeks. I imed. water the plants returing home, as for the bottom base leaves, they had turned dry brown. I pull them off. The plants them selves are beautiful. Bursting w/ bright healthy red blooms and strong green leaves. But the 6 inch stems from the base where they dried up, will the leaves return at the bottom. The stems look strong and green, just naked

A: They may or may not. Removing the lower leaves is the method used to create topiary geraniums. Plant other annuals around the bare stems. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
