Q: I have a hyacinth INSIDE in a vase ( 1 bulb, roots and water) Can it be planted in a flower pot and placed outside for the spring.....will it grow again being one flower has fully bloomed and the 2nd flower has just bloomed from the bulb? what can I do with it at this point?
A: Professionals do not recommend planting forced bulbs in the soil after they have bloomed. The bulb is void of food and the water roots will not make the transition in the soil. That said, some folks plant them anyway and some do survive. However even if it does survive, it will not bloom next spring. I put mine in the compost. The choice is yours.
