Will Japanese Pagoda Tree Self-Seed

Question From: Mather, Pennsylvania, United States
Q: Hi Nancy, I am thinking of growing the Japanese Pagoda Tree as a shade tree for Agroforesty. One question I have is will it self seed. I was just a bit concerned that I might get more trees than I am hoping for. If it is helpful, I'd be growing the tree in Zone 8 on Vancouver Island, Canada.

A: I have no personal experience with this tree. Woody guru Mike Dirr does not list self seeding as an issue although he says it is easy to grow from seed. It may take 10 or more years to flower and is considered a messy tree for a couple of months during the flowering period. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
