Will Red Salvias Survive

Question From: E. Lomey - Eastpoint, Florida, United States
Q: Do you think my red salvias will survive? I left them in the care of my mother even though she isn't gifted in the garden and I have never owned salvias before. I've been giving slow fertilizer with little success, is there a way I can kick start leaf growth or prevent the brittle stalk from forming?

Salvias are not heavy feeders, so cut back on the fertilizer. Also they look like they have been overwatered. Allow the surface of the soil to dry before watering. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
