Will Removing Affected Leaves Be An Effective Treatment For Geraniums With Rust

Question From: Altadena, California, United States
Q: Hi Nancy. All my geraniums seem to have rust. Is it enough to remove leaves that look affected or do I have to use some kind of spray.

A: Removing the leaves won't do it. I suggest you spray the plants with a product containing bacillus subtilis, such as Serenade by Bayer It's safe to use around bees and beneficials in the garden and the soil. It's OMRI listed. Removing the leaves would remove the plant's ability for feed itself. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
