Young Hawthorne Tree Has Orange Bumps On Bark

Question From: ILLINOIS
Q: my very young hawthorne tree has little orange bumps that look like eggs on the bark. do you know what these are and how to treat them?

My guess is your tree has a fungal disease called rust. Take pictures of the infected area to and independent nursery or garden center that sells trees for an accurate ID and method of control and instructions for use. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
