Zinnia Leaves Have Round Holes

Question From: C. George - Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, United States
Q: Hi Nancy I planted a large swath of my flower garden this year with the larger cactus zinnias. After they reached an inch high the seedlings leaves have started to have little round holes in them. Most of the holes are clean but some are edged in brown. The pic below shows what I am referring too. What do you suggest I should do to stop the damage. I am familiar with most of the diseases one must watch for on fully grown zinnia plant but I never had this happen to my baby plants. Help! I'm afraid this will retard the growth or kill them outright.

A: My guess is you have slugs. Bonide Slug Magic or Sluggo will control the problem. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy
