Q: I planted 8 tall zinnia seedlings. Three have now broken off at ground level or just above. There doesn't seem to be any reason for this. It looks like they were just snapped. I want to know what is attacking my zinnias. Thank you.
A: Sounds like you have cut worms. Wrapping the stems of the plants with tinfoil will protect them. If you choose to use a pesticide, Google pesticides that can be used in Colorado to find one that is effective and available in Colorado.
