Question From: Campbell, California, United States
Q: Nancy, We have a planting bed with is about 4 feet deep and runs the length of our yard. We want to plant a "living wall/evergreen privacy screen" in this area. We only need this "fence to be about 10 - 12 feet tall. We have looked a few Arborvitae species and the Leland Cypress. Some have some great looks about them but get very tall and presumably wide. We live in the San Francisco Bay area (zone 9) Can you offer any suggestions/advice.

Sorry Douglas, I live in Michigan and am not familiar with the growing conditions in CA or what works there. I suggest you visit a nursery or garden center that specializes in woodies - not a big box. The may well have a designer on staff to help you. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
