Q: I live in Chicago, and my hyacinths have begun sprouting. Sooner or later it's going to turn real winter here. Are they doomed? Should I put them in pots and bring them in and replant in the spring?

I mulched over the bulbs that emerged in December. In most cases the bulbs will survive. Happy Yardening, Nancy
