When To Use Nematodes To Remove Grubs In Lawn

Question From: S. Lewis - RHODE ISLAND
Q: Our backyard lawn has been completely sheared off and rolled back. I am assuming it is from the skunks going after the grubs. I am thinking of using nematodes to get rid of the grubs. Do I use it now, re-sod now or later, or wait for spring for all of it? Thanks

A:

The skunks probably rolled back the sod, but the grubs ate the roots. It's too late in the season to use the beneficial nematodes. The temperatures must be between 40 and 80 degrees. Spring is when the grubs rise in the soil. I'd wait till then to do both. Best And Happy Yardening, Nancy.
