PERK UP YOUR HOUSEPLANTS WITH
PRO-MIX® ULTIMATE POTTING MIX

Are your African violets looking a little peaked? Does the water run right through your rubber plant? Are the roots of your Boston fern poking out of the pot's drainage holes?

"I water and fertilize regularly so what’s wrong?" you ask yourself.

The answer is simple but not obvious. You need to repot your houseplants because they are literally growing faster than you can see and have become too big for the container.

Like children, young plants grow quickly and can actually double in size every six to 12 months. As they grow, the roots literally ‘squeeze’ the soil within the pot by forming a root ball.

This compacted soil can no longer hold the water and nutrients needed to feed the plant. So when you water and fertilize your root bound plant, it all just flows through to the saucer, or even worse, on to the floor.

Once the mix can’t satisfy the plants’ needs, the roots make their way out of the pot through the drainage holes hunting for food, water, air and a little space

According to Charlotte Kidd, owner of In The Garden Design, Care, and Workshops in Philadelphia, PA, the preferred potting medium to use for repotting indoor plants is a light, soilless mix without weed seeds, pests and diseases.

"For 15 years, I've relied on PRO-MIX® Ultimate Potting Mix for potting up houseplants, rooting cuttings and starting seedlings," Kidd says. "It’s easy to work with, drains well and is free of diseases, insects and weeds. That means no unwelcome visitors like fungus gnats and root rot."

PremierPRO-MIX®‚ combines Sphagnum peat moss with perlite, and vermiculite with starter nutrients, lime, and a wetting agent. It is based on PRO-MIX's top quality blend made for professional growers, yet it's refined and packaged especially for the home gardener.
