Planting River Birch

Plant larger balled and burlapped trees in the spring; those in containers can go into the ground anytime during the growing season until mid-August to assure that the roots have time to establish before winter weather gets harsh.

River birch loves full sun and moist, acidic soil with lots of organic matter in it. It can handle drier soil and even truly wet ones, as long as they are acidic.
