Try Resistant Varieties of Potato - Sequoia and Katahdin.
Encourage Predators
Animal Predators - Birds, including Baltimore orioles, bluebirds, cardinals, chickadees, grosbeaks, juncos, purple finches, and robins, all eat Colorado potato beetles.
Insect Predators Found in the Garden - Assassin bugs, ground beetles, lady bugs, and stinkbugs are important predators. Naturally occurring parasitic wasps also help keep Colorado potato beetles in check.
Other Preventive Steps
Grow potatoes on top of the ground with heavy mulch. The thick organic mulch makes it hard for emerging beetles to reach plants in the spring.
