Using Beech In The Landscape

Because of their great size, mature American beeches look best in open landscape settings or near large residences. As specimen trees on spacious lawns they are stunning. They are an excellent choice for lining long driveways or for flanking entrances to large estates. Many beeches can be sheared to form hedges. They are perfect for parks and other public places. One drawback is that the shallow roots of beeches and their broad spread make planting grass or other ground covers beneath them very difficult.
