Caterpillars come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, and they can be found anywhere in North America. There are diamondback caterpillars, green-striped maple worms, hornworms, woolly bears, red-humped caterpillars, and many many others. All of these and many more are happy to make a meal of the leaves on your landscape plants but we should note strongly that by far most of the time you will never know they are even in your yard; their damage is for the most part not noticed. This file deals with those few times when a particular caterpillar is chomping on a plant enough for us to notice and become concerned.
